My ER visit (SVT)

I went to the ER on Sunday, June 8th around 2 or 2:30 P.M.

What prompted this was my heart “shifted into high gear” and started beating super fast.

Just a little background, my heart has done this before, but not quite like this.

It had never done this quite this long before and I’d like to think that my heart’s never beat that fast before either. My heart rate got up to 230+! (scary!!!! 60 — 100 = normal)

So, I had my husband call an ambulance after this had gone too long and nothing I’d tried seemed to “calm it down.”

In the past laying on my side with my arm outstretched, attempting to control my breathing & trying not to freak out has seemed to help to “calm it down”.

It had been going on for about 15 minutes by the time the paramedics arrived. By the end of it all I’d say it lasted 30 maybe up to 45 minutes. I wasn’t exactly watching the clock so I don’t know for sure. Anyway, they gave me oxygen because I have asthma and when It was at its worst my breathing was a bit labored. They also gave me an IV in addition to running an EKG and attempting to take my blood pressure. This took a few tries because this had dropped due to my heart overworking.

Just before I was taken to the ambulance my heart rate finally lowered some. I could tell it had done so and felt so much better. My heart was still beating too fast so I continued to the hospital It lowered again to slightly above normal just before arriving. (100 — 115)

At the hospital they made sure to run an EKG. I can’t tell you how important EKG’s are if you’re having a heart rate problem. Also, IF YOU HAVE ASTHMA MAKE SURE TO TELL THEM. I also had a chest X-ray, blood work, blood pressure, all the standard stuff done.

I was asked about my thyroid and I told them that it had been tested in the past and was fine.

Finally, the doctor came and diagnosed me with SVT which stands for Supraventricular Tachycardia. It’s not too dangerous, it’s just not any fun and it tires you out. My heart rate was a bit concerning though so I was put on a beta-blocker. Beta-blockers block adrenaline which is a stimulant. Speaking of which, I was told to stay away from all stimulants including chocolate!!! I haven’t had a follow up doctor visit yet, but when I do I’m gonna have to ask about that because I love chocolate and don’t want to give it up unless I absolutely have to. So, no caffeine, no chocolate and yes this does include decaf coffee & tea as well. If you didn’t know, things that say decaf still have caffeine. It’s supposed to be very minimal, but it still has it. I have to watch my stress levels as well. Emotions, like if I were to get super upset may set my heart problem off.

In the past I thought I had mitral valve prolapse, which is a valve problem. I asked about this. I was told that what I went to the ER that day for was caused by SVT, but that didn’t necessarily mean that I don’t also have MVP
Whenever I do get to go to the doctor I’ll see about them ruling MVP out.
SVT is a problem based in the nervous system of the body. This is why the things I was trying at home wouldn’t necessarily help it. Sure staying calm helps any number of things and definitely didn’t hurt to try, but it’s not something that will always work every time. SVT dictates a little bit of a lifestyle and dietary change, but it’s not too bad. I’m just glad it wasn’t any worse.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I will continue to update about this in future blog posts.

Till next time~

Update – 4/26/14

(Originally written on 4/26/14)

I haven’t updated in a while honestly because there’s so much going on in my personal life. My mother’s having to move and now another family member is probably (read likely) to have to move. On top of that, me and my husband are going to have to move as well. Also, depending on where we move, we may have to give up one of the cats for adoption. Aside from all that, there’s been all the recent deaths in the family. Finally, there’s my health. It’s not so great right now. I still need to get officially diagnosed, but I might have mitral valve prolapse which is a heart valve issue. Yeah, I haven’t been feeling too great lately. Also, none of the computers in the house work right now. I’m actually typing this from my 3ds right now. ›_‹ Anyway, that’s what’s going on. It’s a very stressful time for me right now, which is aggravating my heart condition. Whatever that condition may be.

Till next time

Esperanto Blog Update

A while back I created a blog that was to be dedicated to my study of the language Esperanto.
I have now closed it.
Reason being is that I found somewhere else to blog that’s designed for language learners.
This place is called Lang-8.

My plans now are to use my lang-8 blog to practice.
Then I will use this blog to post updates regarding my progress.
I also plan to use lang-8 and this blog in the same way for my Japanese studies.

I have now added Esperanto and Japanese as categories on the right hand side.
This will make it easier to find my language related posts.

Originally, I was going to post this before I deleted my Esperanto blog.
Unfortunately, I was sick with a particularly bad sinus cold for several weeks.
For a while, I didn’t feel like doing much of anything.
So, that’s my reason for the lack of updates/new posts.
I’m all better now though. Hence the update. 🙂

I’ve got a couple of new posts I’m working on that’ll be coming soon.
One is a beauty haul post and the other is about my nails.

Stay tuned for those.
Thank you so much for reading.

Till next time.

Clinique & Merle Norman!

Hi everyone.
On Friday the third (of this month) me and my mom went to our local mall.
She was nice enough to buy me some makeup. 🙂
(She bought herself some makeup too.)
First we went to Clinique because they were doing an event type thing.
It was where if  you tried on at least one type of makeup you would receive one of their Quickliner Intense for free.
There was a choice of Intense Charcoal, Plum or Ivy.
I chose the  (05) Charcoal and my mother chose Ivy, but was given Charcoal by accident. 😦
Me and my mother both kinda wished we’d chosen plum after the fact.
Note: There was no purchase required to get the Intense Quickliner.
The makeup that my mom bought me was:
and my shade is (2) Alabaster
The other thing that I got was concealer.
Specifically it was:
My shade is (01) Light Neutral
What I got to try out was their new CC cream in the shade Light.
Now let me first say that I usually don’t care for liquid foundations, but I was impressed by this one.
I even wondered about the coverage because of  the comparison to their BB cream on their website.
(Click on BB or CC. Which one’s for you? And you’ll see the comparison.)
The website claims that the BB cream has better coverage so I had my doubts.
But, when I put the CC cream on face and under my eyes. I was super impressed. The coverage was great.
Especially, under my eyes. I have horrendous dark circles due to having allergy eyes.
After that, I wanted to go to the Chanel counter and try out their bronzer called Soleil Tan De Chanel or Bronze Universal.
I  was not really impressed.
However, I think the problem for me was that my skin tone is just too fair.
There’s only one shade of Bronze Universal and it’s pretty light.
So, after the lady applied it I just couldn’t see much of a difference.
(I don’t have very much experience using bronzers by the way.)
After that, we went to Merle Norman.
I love Merle Norman makeup. It’s awesome.
If I remember right my mother bought foundation, an eyeshadow, and blush.
And since they are having a gift with purchase going on right now she got that too.
Again my mom was super nice to give me the gift with purchase.
The only thing she kept was the Miracol Creamy Formula Revitalizing Cream which is a mask.
The other items were:
A bronzer! Remember that other bronzer I’d just tried?
I like this one so much better.
This one is called Pool Side.
Next is:
It’s basically a chapstick.
It smells amazing.
It smells like vanilla and it’s super smooth.
It’s awesome and I love it.
And the last item is:
Their Lip Polish in the shade Modern Princess.
It’s a bit too pink for me, but I’ll still wear it anyway. 🙂
So, that’s all that came in the gift with purchase.
Just today, I went to RiteAid and picked up a lipstick for two bucks!
It is Revlon Color Stay Soft & Smooth.
I got #220 Smooth Coffee
I know the lighting isn’t that great but here’s a swatch.
It’s a really nice bronzy brown shade.
However it turned out a little dark for me, but it worked out okay when I used a light hand.
It is what it says too. Soft & Smooth.
It went on well and felt good on.
Yeah, I had to get some new lipstick because my Clinique Tenderheart is almost gone. 😦
I love that shade by the way. It’s a great nude color with a little bit of brown to it.
Till next time!~

Update! – Sick of being sick! :(

Hi everyone!

So um where to start.

Me and my husband just recently got over being sick.

It was not fun let me tell you.

Aside from that, both of my cats were sick as well.
Tigger was the most recent one of us to be sick and it was very brief. It was only for one day.
Spooky, on the other hand, had a terrible time with her poor tummy.
She’s had this problem once before.
The first incident and this one had their differences though.

The first time this happened, which was a few years ago, she had vomiting.
It was extreme because nothing would stop it. We kept taking her to the vet and trying different medications until finally one worked.

This time she had the vomiting but it started off not as bad.
It obviously progressed until it was. The difference this time was the diarrhea.

Last time it took three visits to vet before she got well.
This time it took just one. 🙂

I thought her illness was caused by the fattiness in some treats that I gave her.
The vet however didn’t think this was solely to blame.
She recommended a new diet though.
She wanted her to have something that had would aid in digestion.
She adjusted to this new diet with lightning speed.
Tigger is on this new diet as well.
They both love it.

Now all of us are well and I’m so glad.

Thanks for reading.
Till next time.

Manga Mini-Haul!

Hi everyone!

Surprise (mini) haul!

I say surprise because, I totally forgot that I still had credit left at one of my local used book stores.

Once I realized this, I went there and got these!

It’s volumes 18-20 of Fruits Basket.

I’m so glad to have found these. They’re not in the best shape, but that’s okay.

Now I just have to track down the final 3 volumes and I’ll be done collecting this series. 🙂

As always, thanks for reading~

Ulta Haul

Hi everyone!
Recently I went to Ulta to get in on some of their recent sales.
Here’s what I got:
This bag came with the 5 items below.
It was part of a deal to get selected items 5 for $10.
They threw in the cute flower bag for free.

The color of this polish is called Brownette.
It’s beautiful.
It’s brown with lots of copper.
It comes out more of a pinkish copper on the nails.

So that wraps up the items that were 5 for $10.
Below is a huge case of makeup that I got for $20.00.
It was on sale from $25.00

*Sorry about the glare*
This set comes with:
8 palettes each designed to give you a different look.
3 dual tipped sponge applicators

3 Brushes including:
A blush brush
an eyeshadow brush &
a sponge tipped brush/applicator

2 double sided (pencil) eyeliners in:
Deep Brown – Black &

3 mini lip glosses in:
Flirtini – a neutral pink
Sweet – Pink &
Poppy – Pink/Red
last of  all it comes with an item that looks very much like a wallet.
The “wallet” was designed to hold 1 of the 8 palettes, has a mirror & space to hold 4 more items from this set!

Honestly, this set is awesome. You get so many colors and shades of eyeshadows and blushes.
The best thing about this set is that it’s so easy to grab your make-up and go.

That wraps it up for this haul.
